The Girls Next Door

Next door to ours, over the back fence, lived three gorgeous girls.

In the evenings, when the sun is not too hot, we hear the girls and they hear us, playing. They jumped on their trampoline, we jumped on ours. They swing on theirs and we on ours.

One day not too long ago, we saw the step ladder by the back fence. Two boys, hanging over the fence with only their butts high in the air, and flip flops and legs flapping on our side of the fence.

The boys were chatting up the girls!


Every day or two, we see heads bobbing up and down over the fence, red hair with pig tails. The girls calling out to my boys. They exchanged notes, snacks and other bits and bobs. It puts a smile on my face.
